About
35 years on the tools.
Arc & Anchor is a time-served welder and a business partner who handles everything that is not welding.
Our welder has been at it for 35 years — MIG, TIG and stick, in stainless and mild steel.
That matters more than it sounds. TIG is what gives you a clean, controlled weld on thin stainless where a bad joint would show and rust. MIG is the workhorse for gates, frames and structural work. Stick still wins outdoors, on rusty or painted steel, and on repairs where nothing is clean. Most jobs need someone who can pick the right one rather than use the only one they own.
The reason this exists is simple: there is a steady stream of small, genuinely useful steel jobs around Johannesburg that nobody wants — too small for a shopfit company, too fiddly for a handyman, and always needed on a day when you are actually at home.
So we do them on Saturdays and Sundays. We can come and assess the job during the week — it is the fabrication and fitting that happens at weekends. You get 35 years of experience rather than whoever was available, and a properly itemised quote from someone who answers messages.
We are deliberately starting small and close to home. We would rather do fewer jobs properly than take on a diary we cannot service.

How we work
The short version.
- Assessed in the week
- We can come and look on a weekday. You do not have to wait for the weekend just to get a quote moving.
- Built on weekends
- The work itself happens Saturdays and Sundays. That is the whole model, and it is why we can be there when you are.
- Assessment first
- We look at the job on site before quoting. You are not paying for a guess.
- Detailed quotes
- Emailed to you and itemised, per job. No deposit taken until you have accepted it.
- The right steel
- Stainless where it has to survive weather, chlorine or salt. Mild steel, properly finished, where that is the sensible answer.
- The right process
- MIG, TIG, Stick — chosen for the joint in front of us, not because it is the only one in the bakkie.
- We say no
- If a job is beyond a weekend, or beyond us, we will tell you rather than start it.
- We come back
- If something we fitted needs adjusting, that is on us. That is the point of staying local.
